    whats your demand like?
what brand/ type of additives will you be using?

I assume you want a reliable way of maintaining your calc and alk , plus mag on a budget?

you will get some much better ideas for sure, but for now

    welcome to Steve's bargain basement

there are certain things you need to know
1 - changing anything to quickly = bad
2 - you need to know where you are = testing
3 - know your targets and the speed you can safely reach them = 3 reef calculator

example - if you find your DKH is 7 and your target is 8 - taking 2 nights to get there is fine IME

Work out how much of the additive you need to take your volume up from 7 to 8
add 50% of it to a drip feed system like above , mixed with RODI and then control the flow using a air line clamp or a simple knott on the line so the mixed liquid drips out slowly
the longer it takes the better

the same applies with calcium - same method - same technique

testing is key - working how much demand you have by testing each week before using additives is how I started , once I figured I knew what my tank was using I compensated

I will continue testing as demand could increase , and when I notice it, I will either adjust the amount or the frequency of dosing

Thats my bargain basement tip of the day

join me tomorrow when I explain how a willing 8 year old and a jug of RODI is in fact my ATO

    LOL

    Yes
with those items you can indeed make a slow additive dripping device
or depending on what liquids/powders you add, a device that can get you out of a locked room
