Ok i havnt made this yet but i promised i would post this lol. i am trying to figure out the best way to do an ATO (auto top off) and maybe i should just say easiest way for a ditzy blonde to do an ATO since thats closer to the truth bahaha! So i am looking for ideas on the best way to go about doing this...i am open to any suggestions since this is a 1st for me the only thing i wish to do is i would like this to be in my basement and run up through a hole i will drill in the floor (hardwood floors), i would prefer it there because i can think of no tastefull way to keep a huge container of water in my dining room next to the tank, and i hate clutter in the main living areas....the basement i could really care less about though lol. my stand has an open back so i wont have to drill through the stand...i would like to eventually move my sump and pumps and skimmer and whatnot down to the basement as well but that would require big holes in the floor and/or wall and being that we recently bought our home and its our 1st i am kind of reluctant to start ripping huge holes in our new house hahaha...maybe when the new house syndrome wears off i wont feel so bad about it haha. I was thinking of using a garbage can or 55 gallon drum or something similar to keep the RO/DI water in for tossing off, i would like to just run it straight from the ro/di since i have that in the basement hooked up to the laundry tube, the only problem with that is i have to take it off everytime i do laundry and being a girl i have a lot of clothes...meaning i do a lot of laundry lol. Like i said any ideas or tips would be helpful and appreciated!

    Thanks everyone

awesome! ok that solves that, any ideas on getting it from A to B (a being the faucet B being my sump) my laundry sink is on the other side of the house as my tank and one floor it would have to go about 25-30 feet left and about 10 feet up to reach my sump...

i did read this one a few days ago and though it seems like a great set up, i would have to fill that thing up every other day lol, also to me it seems a little gaudy...i like that he went with his team on the bucket...but that just isnt in my taste for dining room accessories... even if i could find a Steeler bucket lol.

i would probably use a long feed line on the Rodi unit and place it next to the storage barrel and then pump it up one flight from there. ;D

just regular airline tubing im assuming? what pump would you recommend for that distance? i dont know of any for that size hose that will push the water that far, or would i need something like a sedra and get an adapter to fit the airline...do they make adapters like that?
