The Meanwells are dimmable, I would go with that so you can dial down the intensity and keep most corals.

the TRCs are also dimmable (and apparently don't need a 10v source like the Meanwells. And yes, dimming ability is required by any driver I end up with as either lighting component in the setup will significantly exceed the light output of the PCs

I haven't heard of TRC much, mostly Meanwell. Hey if they both dim get the cheaper one! ;D
Here is NanoTuner's opinion on the TRC
    TRC-040S105DS
After months of testing, we have found that the reliability, ease of use, and wide range of built in dimming features such as 0-10v control and a built in reference voltage to be superior to other LED drivers on the market. Thomas Research Products is a little known name in consumer markets, but widely used in various OEM applications across multiple industries. These drivers are the backbone of the new Nanocustoms Solo, Duo, and Trio family of multichannel LED drivers, and a MUST for Do it Yourselfers.

Yeah, but check the price tag lol. That's why I was considering the Meanwells...

So go with the Meanwells, they have good reviews too!

Yeah, the only down side is that the 8 XM-Ls come in at the very bottom of the Meanwell range. That's why I was looking for feedback :) Plus, I would have to find a 10v supply

Isn't the TRC only 37$? Not more with a Meanwell and 10v source...

Great catch... I was looking at the ....DT models, not the DS models. I may have to look into those some more, wall outlet simplicity - yes please.

The Crees are in! Just as a warning to those that haven't seen how bright these LEDs are... the RB wasn't that bad, though it was decently blinding. I tested the XM-L... and I'm still seeing spots. I am very excited to mount these to the unit I built and get the drivers ready to go.
