Well there is one way, either X10 or Z-Wave bulb module.. I have one on my refuge light and they then to be weatherproof..

    Here's the Z-Wave one I'm using..

my canopy idea is more to hide the bulbs. I will be mounted to the wall nad not all that close to the tank. Think of it more like just a top and bottomless box built around the short piece of track and bulbs just so they arent visible. I'm just not a fan of seeing the bulbs out and exposed.

Should be ok, but I'd put dielectric grease on the contacts that go into the tracking & on the socket to prevent corrosion...

Also, I built that setup for my frag tank in my fish room. Granted it has a very contemporary look and can be used as a show piece..

Cool thanks for the advice. What about having a glass top over the tank? I'm assuming that would help as well.

    It's a no no..

First it holds heat and second you will be scrubbing salt build up every other week.. Trust me, I speak from experience on this on my 29gal.. No problem, we are all here to help.

I was looking to create a full dusk/dawn with 5 bulbs. One bulb goes on and the others turn on incrementally for an hour until they are all on, then in reverse order for dawn.

The cheapest way would be each bulb setup (daytime & atinics) to be wired to a timer each.

    OR

Using two tracks, one for daytime & the other for atinics. Each setup on a timer.

The more expensive way is on a track lighting setup, each bulb is controlled by the Z-Wave bulb module. Then it communicates to a Z-Wave controller or home automation system.

I might go the 2 track or make a rail system to mount the bulbs
