Hey guys I've been searching the inter-webs for a DIY canister filter to replace my 2 HOB marineland pens that I have 150 and 300 I think. I still haven't decided weather to go with a canister filter or a sump I'm currently curing my LR and am planning on using the HOB's from friends old setups until either I build a sump out of my old 20g or make a canister filter.

As I understand a canister filter, water comes in passes over a debris filter sock or some other form, goes over bio media, then chemical media (i.e, carbon) then over more sponge.

Surfed the inter-webs some more found these two posts.

sorry for the language burier on the second post not sure what language.

I'm trying to stick to a budge if possible college kid here paying complete way. But I understand if I need to spend the cash I will and party less.

Well if anyone has and advice I'd be very thankful.
