I have seen alot of people talk about curing cement rock for the aquarium in fresh water to lower the PH, thats fine.
My question for those in the know is concerning Phosphates and the possibility of them leaching into the rock from all this tap water ( is this the case? )as we all know to limit the entery of Phospates to the system.
Streams and backs of toilets are they realy not counter productive?
    Waste:)

Not anything you can't remove from the tank over a little time with some phosphate remover, WM.

I thought I read on another 3reef thread that the primary source of phosphates in DIY rock was the use of crushed oyster shells? I will have to dig that up... have you heard that as well?

Give it a test. Also, I would really test the spring water before thinking of that too. Check it's TDS and compare to the tap. Often times, spring and well water are worse than tap due to the heavy metals and other things that leach into it straight from the ground.

I remember that thread, but I don't think anyone ever could come up with anything on it. I tried Googling it, and that exact same thread is about the only thing that comes up ;)
