I just bought 10 of these Newegg.com - MASSCOOL FD08025S1M4 80mm Case Fan - Case Fans and i am planning on using 4 of them. I have read about cutting the wries and hooking up the wiring to an ac adapter. i would like to hook up all for fans to on dc adapter.

    each fan is 80mm
    1.82w
    12vdc
    .15a current

my question is what kind of adapter could power 4 fans?

i have an ac adapter with
    12vdc output 1250mA
    would this work?

dc and ac are different. cfm matters more than mm

    4 x .15 =.60 or 600 mA
    That adapter will work fine
You need to hook them in parallel and not in series

I am using 3 fans with the same ratings as those. I just hooked them up to an old charger for something i had that puts out only 3 volts at 100 mA.
They work fine. I actually like the fact that they are underpowered. They run quieter.

underpowered... just becareful. underpowering some things ( like motors.. and a fan is a motor) can actually cause them to run marmer then designed and can cause fires. If yuo have 3v then buy a fan for 3v's saving $5 is good, but not if you burn down the house. just a word of caution.

I was looking at doing the same thing but could not find a cheap power supply. Let me know how they work out.

Where can i find cooling fans for my canopy. Also can someone post a wiring diagram for DC fans that can be used by AC power.

AC fans are hard to find. I'd like to find computer type of fans...i have a ton of nice DC fans but i dont know if i can use them with AC power

Another thing....i don't think you can just use any fans for aquarium. Some fans specifically state that they are not to be used in those areas with high moisture or water

I cant believe how much they charge for AC fans. Almost $30 for each...while computer fan are less than 10 bux

You can use them they just don't last as long as they should thats all. But when you buy them in bulk like I do for work it doesn't matter how long they last because I only pay 1.50 each.

Any one of these will work and they are cheap enough. I just happened to have a spare one from my old satellite radio that I am using to power 2 80mm fans for my seahorse tank.

edit: and here are the same fans I use, almost any of these will work
