DIY Coralline Algae On PVC

    I have had a few people asking me on a thread on how you can make coralline algae on PVC and it still looks natural. On this DIY I will show you how it is done.

    You will need white PVC. It will work on gray, just won't be as bright not on black though. Any purple PVC primer. I used Oatey Purple Primer #30756. Here is the trick, do it in small steps. Wipe with a cloth to blend and wipe the excess. You may just want a light coat to take the white eye sore. Also, this will remove the labeling on the PVC that drives most of us crazy.

    As you can see from these two examples you can go light or very dark. Just do it to your liking. Hope this was very informative. Any questions, just ask away.

    I would wonder if there's a way to get not only the color, but the texture correct, so it doesn't look brushed on. Maybe do some kind of glue + fine grit material application before adding the primer?

    This can be done by rolling it on a cloth while the colored PVC is still soft.
