Have you posted your results from this comparison? I'd love to see some actual numbers. I think that people should be posting more of their actual test results so that people can make better informed decisions..
I have some Cree LEDs and I also have some cheapy eBay LEDs. I'm not claiming I've done any specific testing on them but I don't think they are 4:1..

    FYI to everyone
Boost LED MU Series 135 uses Bridgelux LEDs, if they use it then it seems that they are indeed good enough. I would love to just be able to buy some of thier units but the cost is prohibitive so DIY is the way to go for me.

I did a bit more digging on how many led's were in the boost fixture,
And I am a fan of boost led and think there products are great ;D

    there fixtures deminsions on the sight are 16 x 8.5 x 3

and there are 119 total leds in the fixture which broken down is 1 led per 1x1.2 inches on the fixture. so if you look at it like that you would have to have 119 leds per 24x24 area to equal what the MU series is pumping out, plus assuming they are using meanwell drivers that are Costant Current only, and fans hooked up to make them stay cool so they dont burn up. somthing I noticed as well is that the fixture says 135 Watts which divided by the number of leds is not 3 watts per bulb.

just somthing to look at lol

Ok, so cree are more powerful than Bridgelux. If you've done a comparison of the two, would you mind posting the results? From the numbers above, are you abandoning your initial claim that 4 bridgelux = 1 cree?

I think it's known that Cree are more powerful, but I'm not convinced it's even close to the degree you're claiming. Plus, from quite a few threads I've seen, most people would fry everything in their tanks with their Cree bulbs on 100% power (many do 50% power), so why not get more appropriate bulbs? Unless you have an abnormally deep tank and need the extra boost to light the bottom, I think the bridgelux appear to be more than enough.

And for who asked, it looks like the boostLED MU 135 has 112 LEDs.

also I want to ask to CAIN what degree lenses did you have on there?

did you have the chinese drivers or the mean well drivers?

at what debth was the par reading and what instrument did you use?

gotta know before I can make up my mind. and bith the Bridgelux and Cree are 3 watts so how is the par diffrent if the test was set up with the same drivers, lenses, and debth or the reading?

Another point to be made here is, in an effort to keep cost down, perhaps a Cree / aquastyle hybrid system could be a good compromise.
