hey ppl, well i was bored at work today and hit the sparky up for some offcuts of LED strip lighting and i managed to knock this up to test on my fuge. pics below. now this is an extremely simple very small test run of me making LED light fixture. the LEDs are high output white, its around 7-8w i beleive. warm white which is around 6500k i think they are which should be good for my fuge.
now i plan on making a DIY LED light fixture to light my DT as well, ive got it planned out as far as ill be having 2 white strips to every one blue strip and ill be doing them pretty much right next to each other to maximise light output/coverage. couple of questions, white leds would need to be pure white at around 14k wouldnt they? and blues around 470nm? am i on the right track?
i was planning on making a similar fixture to what i have on the small version here although it will be airtight unlike this one with 2 small exhaust fans, and the inside will be laminated entirely in gloss white lamite to maximize reflection. blues and white will be run off seperate drivers so to allow for sunrise/sunset with blue actinics. like i said strips will be quite close together, maybe half inch apart depending on how much led stripping i can afford haha

does this sound alright to everyone? i mean this is what ive come up with off the top of my head and i just wanna have a stab at it really, so if anyone has any advice/input that could help it would be much appreciated.

Well I got them for free from the electrician at my work.. They come
in a 5metre roll and can be cut at 50mm intervals.. Very simple
to use, there just called high output LED strips. I'm in Australia so
I can't really help you with where to get em in America tho aye.
