    I wanted a cabinet light so I'm not working in the dark or with a flash light in my armpit struggling to do something. So I wired up a (2.75" ROUND INTERIOR LIGHT, 1.8 WATTS @ 12 VDC) up to a power adapter (Class 2 power Supply-Ouput 6.5V) I found in the garage. I'm no electrician but I'm unsure the adapter is the right one. But after wiring it up and trying it, The light works great. But I just want to make sure I don't burn anything down. But when I unplug the light the LED's don't shut off completly but dim slowly until going off. Input?

    Thanks.

    What's the sticker on the adapter say it's current output is?

    Input= 120V-60Hz 50mA
    Output= 6.5V - 350mA

    This in on the adapter.

    6.5*.35=2.275W

    Quite a bit more than what they're designed for.

    The dimming you see is just the adapter discharging.

    Will I hurt anything by running it like this or will this damage anything or burn my stand down?

    :confused: Depends what their design limit is.

    Certainly not likely. At worst, the diodes will burn out soon.

    I would just get a new 12V, 500-1000mA power supply and be done with it. You can get them for like $3 shipped from China on Ebay.
