O and from where i am standing they look briter them MH, they are super brite and is olbust blinding looking at them and i am not joking, and they are runing at about 1w each but with other conponents when i fininsh is about 20 to 30 watt of power comsumtion. now i am not finish here is a look at were i am i think total cost for tha projet is $100.00 prise gos up when you use more leds and drivers ...but you can make your own as i did...

i am just i n the test face of the projet so it looks ruf but i will make it realy nice is going to look like it a bout it from a store, and i am going to be ading more leds as time passes. i am making 4 pots with reflectors and 3led's per pot wish i will be ading more leds to the pots in the near future...

Here are the part i use for this projet
    parts
    1-pc power suply
12-LED's super brite from cree rx-e p4 you can get them on ebay or shina
4-heat sink's, but you can use one big one i just use this because i had them and you can order them on ebay
    3- 12v fan's from a pc
    4-1.0 ohm 1w resisters
    4-LM317 trasistors
the resisters and the transistor is to make a driver but you can buy them on line for $15-20 and they can run up to 6 high power led is your shoice

Awesome idea using the heat sinks and thermal paste to draw heat from the lights. Mount a small pc fan on top of those heat sinks to draw air across them, and it might would help even more. Great idea either way! Edit: At a second glance I see that you do have fans listed as materials used, sounds like you've thought this through sir. K+ for ingenuity!

Keep us updated. Do you know what spectrum they are? I applaud the effort.

Pretty cool. I would only be concerned about getting a 10-14k spectrum. It would be cool to test them over different tanks / corals to compare growth.

cool, I think those are gonna work great. They look extremely bright and should penetrate well. What size tank will you be putting these over? How many?
