    We've all been to the "DIY PITA" department...LOL.

    I saw the trouble you had in cutting the slots in your fixtures, so I thought I'd toss in a suggestion.

    Dremel has a kind of "mini router" called a Trio (they run about $99 at Home Depot but refurbs run half of that), and altho I'm not crazy about using it on wood, I found that it works amazingly well on acrylic for cutting really clean slots and cleaning up sawn edges.

    I do recommend Vinny's suggestion of using a "rip fence" to keep your edges straight, and I use the orbital setting on my jigsaw for acrylic work as it allows the acrylic just enuff time to cool off and not melt back together.
