    Anyone tried it?

I've been reading garf's class stuff here. http://www.garf.org/class.html

Seems cool enough but I am worried I'd end up with rock that isn't porous enough since it could have a solid core.

    Opinion?

A way you can make your rock porous is to add rock salt, then when you cure it the salt will disolve leaving lots of holes.

Yes rock salt is the best war. It also makes the outer texture look a lot just like store bought live rock instead of a hunk of cement.

This seems tempting ot me as well, but I hear you sometimes have to cure it for 3 to 6 months!

There's two meanings to cure when you are talking DIY rock.

1st cure is letting it leach pH.
    2nd cure is bacterial.

I started this thread and then 150-200 lbs of live rock fell in my lap. My LFS closed and handed me the key with tons of stuff left over. So I have tubs of LR in my basement. I am plumbing my 90 tomorrow so I'll have a place for some, but not all. I was hoping there were members close to MD to help me use it but I haven't heard from anyone who lives near MD.
