I came across this tank while researching plasma lighting.
YouTube - ‪aquarium plasma light with blue led light strips‬‏

What happened to this style of lighting. From what I read it's supposedly better than led. But very expensive. But from what I've seen the DIY kit is close in cost to some of the better end led lights. Is it limitations in spectrum color?

Because I love this light setup.

They must be having problems with the electronics behind the operation. Spectrum, cost, efficiency and quite possibly safety are all issues they are dealing with.

Interesting. I also read this article on reef builders today about a plasma company chameleon I believe it was that just developed a completely waternproof plasma light for horticulture but that it would be converted to aquarium use. I read they only have up to 6100k i think forth spectrum but the plasma light sfgioli makes looks quite blue to be a 6100k.

It's just strange that they released lots of info on this type of logging in 2008 and 2009 but I can't find any conclusive results it failed. Just lots of reports on how it's much more efficient and powerful than led

I don't think it failed. It's still too new to have failed. However, the current versions are extremely yellow and very expensive. Not many people are willing to pay that kind of money for 5500K lights.

Not to mention that they were running extremely hot and that was a major issue at that moment when trying to keep a stable temp without a chiller. Not sure what's going on with them right now.
