    Drilled at the bottom and install a ball valve to control the flow of the drain.

    Don't cheap out, just get it drilled or a actual overflow. I had a DIY pvc overflow on my tank. Had a pin hole leak a month later and I had quite the mess to clean. And it happened on brand new wood floors.
