I could always use the bean animal design on one end with 1.5" overflows and just plumb my returns to the otherside of the tank? That way the distance from drain to overflow would be 7feet.

Yeah you could do one overflow box on one end, and then pipe your returns to the other end. Just out of curiousity, is there a reason you don't want to do an overflow box on the back wall? Or is the tank being viewed from 2 sides?

You're better making those pieces in glass or plastic. Silicone will not adhere to acrylic. Acrylic is much too smooth and unlike glass its not porous. It may appear to hold, but it won't.

The house Im currently living in it will be viewed from one side but, I will be selling and building in a few years and the floor plan my wife and I have chosen will allow me to have a built in system and view from two sides! I can hardly wait. I just dont want to have to purchase a new tank when that time comes. I am going to go with the bean animal design on one end and plumb the overflows through the other. Your setup looks very good, I will be sure to post some pics as soon as the work begins. Thanks again for all the input.

Good to hear, can't wait to see u start on it. Also, its not nescessary to have your returns piped to the opposite side. There's nothing wrong with it, but I see quite a plumbing nightmare in the making. You can run your returns on the same side as the overflow box if you want to simplify plumbing.
