DIY Overflow

Hi,
So i just finished watching couple of videos on how to make a overflow out of pvc pipes on youtube. Very Cool
I have a question about the look thou, I want to make it look good.
The pvc is a whitish colour and I would like to spray paint it black, just like my background.
I dont know if you guys can tell but I am totally new at this hobby, And I was thinking about sanding it down, and then spray painting it but is that safe to do? is there a safe spray paint that you guys suggest? and is the pvc cement safe for the fish?

I think a better option would be to just make it out of the PVC that is the darker color. schedule 80 or something is the brand.

 

I heard about that from the guy at the Home improvement store, but he said they are hard to come by unless you go to plumbing shops. So I just bought the sc 40 and I already cut it so it will be non-refundable

 

the acrylic paint is inert when it dries. Plus, some aquariums are made of what material? It took 3 seconds to google this:

And Schedule 80 isn't the brand of PVC pipe. It is the standard or specification. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nominal_Pipe_Size

Near the end of my 3 min video, it briefly shows my DIY overflow system.

I've never seen anyone using a larger, higher flow DIY overflow than me, not yet anyway.

Never has lost siphon, and my 'intank overflow' skims alot of surface, as much, if not more than the RR tanks. A coast to coast OF would skim more than mine.
