ok so i been reading about keeping rocks off the sand and the benefits so i went ahead and constructed a pvc shelving unit for my new max 250 im hopeless when it comes to building anything so i hope this works i cant imagine why it wont but we will see when i put it in there next week heres a photo IMG_0670.jpg IMG_0674.jpg i still need to drill holes through it so that water can flow but it seems pretty sturdy. Any way what does 3 reef think ??

    Looking good.
That's how some of us do it.
I was just too lazy, so I threw in all the rocks I could find in no particular order or fashion;D

well i was hoping just to stack them if that doesnt work straight to the cable ties i figure that the rocks stacked on the bottom will cover the shelf at the top other wise im gonna smash one with a hammer then cable tie the peices to the top shelf its gonna be a little trial and error i think

Some use marine safe epoxy to hold em together. This works very well.
But most times I see some using the cable ties or zip ties like you stated.
