I really want to setup a fuge underneath my tank, but i do not have alot of space under neath and the total gallons it would fit in there is about 7 gallons. Is this enough to run a refugium and pump the water to the DT over about 5 ft with (3) 90 degree turns for the return line? I want to set this up so i can add some chaeto to my filter system, i currtently run a fluval 305 and a protien skimmer but im always looking for a way to improve my tank and help with the water level issues im having!

let me know what you guys think about the volume of the fuge, if that is an issue.

I found an article about making a ATS Algae Turf Scrubber. They have had mixed reviews in the past, but you can make one out of a 5 gallon plastic bucket. The problem may be the 5 foot lift. There are head calculators that you can type in the amount of "head" height and it will tell you what sized pump you need. If you look on Ebay many of the pumps listed will tell you the head height rating for many of the pump details. Anyway, the ATS is a good way of making a compact refugium and getting rid of algae. I am thinking of building one next week. I have two options: a big one in my basement drilling holes in the floor with an 8 foot head height massive pump needed. Or a small 3 foot head height pump with 5 gallon bucket under my 29 Biocube. I am not thrilled with either idea. Let me know if you are interested in the ATS and you cannot find directions.
