I want to build a sump with fuge to go under my 65g. I have a wet/dry that I snagged from a friend under there now. The area in the stand is pretty limited. The ideal size is a 15g (24x12x12) for ease of access. I already have 3 9" baffles and this is what I am thinking:

Does this look OK? I know it is simple, but will it work?

I think you would want the first two baffles switched so the water is pouring over the first and under the second. Other than that, looks good.

Some micro bubbles will likely make it past a 2 baffle trap. But if you reverse what he has, then those that do make it past will be directed under the water to the return pump where they have a very good chance of making it to the DT.

Looks ok to me except one thing, the bag of charcoal is useless siting like that it should be in a media reactor or at least in something like an aquaclear where the water is flowing through it.

Good job. Carbon is fine running passively in a media bag. Plenty of test data to show it's effectivness. Not as efficient as running it in a reactor, but far from useless.

Can one of you recommend a me a cheap and effective reactor? Do they make one I could HOB or would have a small footprint in the sump? The only sections I have room for it would be in the fuge or the return pump section.

Two little fishes makes a great one that's inexpensive.
