Well as promiced i decided to build a new sump fuge for a new build 150 gallon tank i am hopeing to get set up in the next month or so .

i started with a 50 gallon sump 36"X18"X18" actually a neet little tank i like the dementions

now i know that reactors are alot more efficiant for carbon and gfo as well as filter socks but i often remind myself of the kiss metod and though worty of there use i feel it brings more complexity to a system i still like the old filter pads being out of the water keeps particals from laying in the water not to mention i like the idea of the skimmer getting raw un filtered water from the DT but this setup uses filter pads and filter bags filled with carbon and gfo pellets

top eggcrate tray is for the pads and the second tray is for the filter bags notice that there is no bubble trap with the water going through the pads and filter bags it get rid of the microbubbles the baffles are made out of the .220 thick plexi and the baffle on the left is heated at the top and bent to help form a waterfall twards the middle of the pads inportant in this type setup .

the skimmer is a mubble magus bm-220 i got a killer deal it wasent my first choice hopefully it will work well the center section is the return section witch is quite small but i use an auto top off so it will work well being small it will only add small amounts more frequently in attempt to keep salinity swings verry minimal fuge is on the right side i wanted to have my external pump on the right side so i set it up so that a portion of the plumbing went through the tank a little bit more work but i like all the equipment under the display were i can keep plumbing out of harms way of a vacume cleaners used by one of my 10 year olds ( that was a mess one day )

side view .are you thinking that tank would make a great small reef nice and deep ( i wonder if i can put up a tank at work )

in all it was a pritty easy build and hope it works as well as the 30 on my 90 gallon setup it should but im thinking of adding a 10 gallon with a drilled simple overflow to flow into the fuge section and put macro in it and do a deep sand bed with some manogroves mabee some caulerpa in the fuge section let me know what you think i have plenty of room under the DT
