Ok I hope this is the appropriate place for this question. It is a bit of a multitude of places. I was building a diy Sump and didn't have room for an in sump refugium and was wondering if it would be ok to use one of those hang on the side refugium on the sump have the inlet on the one side of the bubble trap and the outlet on the return pump side. Any suggestions. ..

I say go for it. I would make sure to get one big enough to handle your nutrients though.

It should work. You can get pretty creative with the way you can design your sump. If it's functional with holding equipment and large enough for a fuge if you go that route, then you shouldn't have an issue. I was going to post you a link from Melev's Reef where he had a sump that was made with a remote refugium to show you that it's fine, but it looks like his site changed greatly from before. I would just make sure to test it all out in a power out situation to make sure you have enough volume to hold that extra little bit of water from the return line if the return pump stops.
