    Hey Guys,

Have noticed a bit of an oily film floating on the surface of the water in my tank. I run Aquamaxx's HOB protein skimmer which has the intake about 4 inches or so underwater, not allowing it to skim the surface. Tried more surface agitation, which helped but I wanted it better. So today I took a trip to the local hardware store and picked up some PVC pipe and fittings to make a surface skimmer fixture. Got it all made up in about a half hour, waited a bit for glue to set and got it in the tank and it seems to be working fine! Little bit of tweaking to get it set right and it is pulling water from the surface just fine. Here's a few pics of the finished product, turned out pretty good, this is the first of many planned improvement on the tank.
