i really want to upgrade my tank i have a 30g breeder tank.
but i would like to make a tank that is 75g or to 100g.
i would love for the tank to be long extra long or extra deep.

    but anyway.

    how do i do this.
what kind of glass should i buy.
    acrylic or just glass.
is this a easy thing to do. and how much money do you guys think it will cost.

has anyone tired doing this before and how did it work out.

Truthfully, you will find it much cheaper to have one custom built. all that said, you can buy the glass or acrylic and cut it provided you have the tools to do so.

I've priced out building a tank and couldn't do it any cheaper than the $1 per gallon sales that many of the big LFS do. Many of the custom tanks even where just as cheap as buying the needed glass from any local supplier for me (northern Michigan). Good luck and keep posting if you decide to build your own!

If you want to go all DIY, acrylic can be cut with a table saw.

Acrylic scratches more easily, but being a sump, I wouldn't think that would matter much.

If you go with glass or acrylic, be sure to go either, all glass, or all acrylic. No mixing of materials.

I'd go custom order. but i dont trust myself and would always be worried that the tank would burst open cuz i did something wrong.

and I would be carful with extra deep (assuming you mean top to bottom not front to back). fish prefer long and wide tanks over deep tanks.

I'm not sure where you are in PA but if you have a truck to come get it with I have a 150 gallon tank and stand I'll sell you for $400 if your interested. 6ft long 29" tall and 18" front to back.
Previous owners dog has scratched at the doors on the stand but a light sanding and fresh coat of sealer will fix that up real nice. I think i have a pic or 2 somewhere, let me see if i can find them.

Glasscages.com - Home has glass and you could compare your price to build with theirs. They have plate, tempered, and starfire. Im thinking of building one, and just use starfire on 3 sides. I have another link for the actual putting together of the tank or look for DIY aquirium on yahoo.
