Scott, I like your stand. Its really cool. Different tan most, too! :) Did you go with the Herbie overflow design? I want to do the same, but wouldn't you get air in the overflow line, as it is facing down? that's my only concern with the design. Good concept.

Should I go with an Eheim 1250 or 1260 for the return pump? I will have 5ft head.

I am going to do a Bean Style overflow system it is like a Herbie but with an extra pipe as a failsafe. The way it is set up is I will have One Full Siphon, One Open Channel (the one with the air line), and One Failsafe Pipe in case the other two get clogged for some reason.

If you go to the first post in my thread you can see a link that has it all explained in great detail it might take a while to get how it works... it sure took me a while.

Would this be overkill for a 75g?

(This is the frame holding the tank up, shown from above. Parallel horizontal lines in the pic are 6" apart. Verticals in the pic are 1' 3" apart on center)

Or would this be better & support the weight alright?

Green lines are also 2x4's, just as are the yellow, but greens show where a side cabinet will be, as part of the stand.

    here's a better representation..

If you do go with number 2 so you have more room under to work with, then go with 2x6 or 2x8 as your 2 length wise supports, that way you will have a stronger stand its what most people do with 6 foot tanks so they do not have to have a middle support that is in the way of the sump/fuge.
