How many drops does it take to get the color to change on that kit. I have that kit too, but stopped using it because I didn't trust the readings it was giving me.. Maybe because it is a fresh/salt water test kit?? I also don't like the way the instructions are kind of vague..

I just did my test using a one and a half year old API test kit and it took 8 drops to get to yellow. So according to API my "carbonate hardness" is 8 KH ?? I also used two (one old one new) Seachem Alk Test Kits (which I trust) and got 4meq/L or 11.2 KH.

Pretty much I think API's kit is wacky. I don't know why they use the measure of KH in their test kit. Measuring by meq/L is more universal and a lot less confusing.

I hope someone can chime in who better understands API's reasoning and their test kit...

Well I tested the faucet I am pulling from for the RO/DI unit and I am getting a reading of 11 DKH. Now between that and my RO/DI output I am losing approx 7DKH. What could be causing this??

So you're saying the RO/DI in dropping your Alk 7DKH?? That's wierd. Wish I could help, but I have now idea what could cause that?? How old is the unit and the filters?

How much coralline do you have? If you have it all over it can really lower alkalinity and Ph.
