    Do anyone know a natural reef safe method for removing nitrates ? ( other than water changes)
    i heard about adding sugar or something like thaat ... what do you think ???

    for nitrates a water change makes more sense but I have not tried the sugar thing, but that sounds like somthing like vodka dosing more for phosphates or as a bacteria supplment.

    Why would you think adding sugar would be a 'natural' solution? Macro algae, refugiums, deep sand beds, algae turf scrubbers (algae will naturally consume nutrients), even DIY denitrators (coil anaerobic versions) are natural.

    I don't know what everyone's stance is but i've been using a plenum because I didn't want so much sand in my tank and its been working perfectly
