Could you keep one alone in a 29 community?

Yup, you can have one in a 29...I have one in my 125...they started out as a school of 7 and gradually culled themselves down to just one.

They really prefer to be in schools and will be alot more active in that setting. The fish will probably not be happy. They also like a decent amount of swimming space and a biocube 29 just doesnt offer what it requires IMO.

I have one in my 40 breeder and it seems to love it. He hangs out with my clown pair from time to time and is a very active swimmer. Seems very happy to me. He's getting nice and fat and swims around at mach 2 when it comes to feeding time.

I would say no, not in a 29. Not very much room for such an active fish.
