i have read conflicting thoughts on this. from what i have read it seems that at one time bristle worms were thought to be bad for corals, but now the consensus seems to be that the dont do any harm and are good scavengers.. one thing to keep in mind though is that an excessive population can be a sign of nutrient export problem

    Pretty much it.

Now I have seen videos of fireworms devouring corals in the wild. Crazy stuff.

There is one species that is bad and is almost never seen in the trade. You should be in the clear with a start on your clean up crew.

While often, bristle worms will not harm corals. There have been instances of them eating corals, I believe Luna had this problem, but I could be wrong. They also can inadvertently harm corals by crawling all over them, this is especially true for lps with large, soft polyps. Personally, I don't like them. When they are small, they usually ok, but as they get larger, they can cause more damage. I personally don't have them, but if I did, I would try to pick them out of my dt and put them in refugium.
