So, the FedEx man shows up at my house this morning with a box with all the usual "Protect from Heat & Cold, Live Fish, Handle with Care, etc." I'm signing for my box and he says "Lady, do you really have a live fish in there?" I tell him, no, I have a mushroom rock and some zoanthids in there. Oh, the look he gave me! :confused1 The poor guy was totally confused. He kind of just backed and away and said "have a nice day." I wonder if he goes home and tries to google "zoanthid"...Anyway, they usually just hand me the box and walk off. I guess his curiously got the best of him! :)

Hehe, I haven't ordered anything alive through fedex/ups but I did order a CO2 regulator from aquariumplants.com and they shipped it in a box that said "Live Plants" on it. I had it delivered to my work because it's easier to deal with than having it sent to my apartment. The people at the front desk of my office who received it for me thought it was weird to order live plants to the office.

Also, I don't think my UPS guy likes me since I've been ordering large boxes of rock and equipment. Especially the 60lbs of base rock that all came in one box. :)

I had a FedEx person that would adjust his route to make sure live contents would get to me before noon. I miss that driver, now I get it right at the deadline of 3:00 pm.

You're lucky your FedEx rep waits for you to answer the door. I thought those days were gone. You live in Mayberry? Tell Aunt Bee I say Hi!

Seriously though--in days past the drivers would knock and wait. If you didn't answer, they left with your package. That evolved to they'd knock and wait, if you didn't answer, they'd leave your package, and walk off. Then, they'd knock, yell, "UPS!," drop the package and leave. I miss the days when they'd knock and leave the package. Now they leave the package without a knock.

Call me old fashioned, but some things just get my goose. Couldn't you even check if I'm home? :-/

Our current UPS driver not only knocks on our door, he brings the packages in for us (he knows that Roger has a hard time getting around these days). Our mailman does the same and both will stay and chat for a while if they have the time. Not bad for a Hartford suburb. :)

Yes but you'll have to be responsible for the 2:00 a.m. feeding if you stay

    LOL

You can also request FedEx Home. This is a separate division of FedEx Ground. FedEx Home drivers actually own that business. They actually paid for that route so they are highly motivated to keep their customers happy. My FedEx Home driver knew I had a home office so if I didn't answer the door, he walked around back and would say, "Curt, here's your fish". He's even thrown sticks and balls for my dogs before. Needless to say, they loved him as a result.
