Pretty much like the title reads, I was wondering if Scissortail Dartfish & firefish get along. I know firefish in pairs (unless mated) is a no-no. I was wondering if anyone has some expereince with the two of these together. I really like them both so picking one would be hard.

Oh, and this would be in a 75.

Sure - dart fish are very easy going fish I have a few myself. Scissortail and Zebra, and two purple fire fish, just make sure they have room for homes- they like to live under live rock.

    It can be a match.

    Hello khowst,
The Firefish and Scissortail Dartfish can be kept together, if certain conditions are met. Both the Firefish and Scissortail Dartfish require allot of hiding spaces and crevices for which to explore within the live rock. This aids in the keeping of Firefish and Scissortail Dartfish, as they will feel more at home and less stressed (and if stressed, they can retreat in the spaces and feel secure). The tank must also be stocked with tank mates who are not too robust, as this will stress both the Firefish and Scissortail Dartfish. With that being said, if you meet these requirements, then you can most likely keep both fish in your 75 gallon tank. Since your tank is pretty big, it will be a match. Make sure to keep an eye on the fish and watch for any aggression or problems between them. There will probably not be any aggression, given that your tank is pretty big. I hope this helps you. This is your fish expert saying “wherever there is an aquarium hobbyist in need, the fish expert is here!”

hi Diana, yep you got it correct- that is pretty much my main tank, my tangs are lovers - not fighters- everyone gets along nicely. come feeding time the darts are first up to bat- but they can be picky eaters some times, but not so much as my bangia's.

    Hi alpha_03,
Your tank seems pretty cool. That is nice that you have 'lover' Tangs as I have seen several rough tangs. Once, I even saw one peck at a clam's mantle. But, every fish does have their own personality. You never really know which fish you are going to get, whether a Mr. Grumpy or a Mr. Happy. I agree, sometimes Dartfish can be a little greedy, but sometimes, they can be the shyest and most docile fish you will ever keep. They are cute little buggers though, that is for sure. :)
