Kind of a dumb question so I will pass on the article....
If a tree falls in the woods and no ones around does it make any noise....

Wow interesting article. I go fishing all of the time, and I feel no remorse for it. We have 3 main ponds in my neighborhood, and I've fished in every single one of them since I was 7 years old. I got catch of the week in the paper with a 5 pound largemouth when I was 14 because of those ponds.

I believe that yes fish feel pain, but they don't "feel" it. They aren't saying "ouch" or in agony, they're bodies just "know" that something is where it shouldn't be. Whether the fish is out of water (and fish aren't supposed to be out of water), or a hook is in its mouth. They're brain simply tells them to avoid whatever is making things "wrong".

I've seen a 6 foot caribbean reef shark with a hook, leader, and a sinker dangling from his mouth. He wasn't acting stressed or as if anything was out of the ordinary. He was circling my dive buddy and myself like all the other sharks were :D Soon, that hook will rust out of his mouth and all he'll know is that the heavy thing is gone. He didn't behave in a way that he was pissed off about all the pain he was going through because of the hook in his mouth.

I have a friend who always brought up the "fishing hurts fish" argument. I took her fishing, and I haven't heard a word about it since then :p

When a bucket of grunts, snapper, or bluegill, or what-have-you tastes so stinking good, I could care less about what the fish is going through. If some people hate fishing because of what it does to fish, try SPEAR fishing :D :D :D
