I have recently gotten into SPS corals and have a 6 frag Acropora pack on the way from vivid aquariums (great retailer BTW).

The issue is that I have several large branching goniopora (that are my pride and joy of my tank) that are in the ideal area for the soon to arrive acropora to be placed. Do these two corals get along. My goniopora is in relativly close contact with my toadstool and montipora and doesn't seem to bother either one but I didn't know about the acropora.

I hate to move the goniopora because they are very picky about their placements and I finally have them in a spot where they are happy.

Hmm, you mean goniopora the "flower pot" coral, right? I hadn't heard of a "branching" variation so wasn't 100% sure.

Yes they are know as the flower pot coral. The one I have is a braching goniopora. I bout it about five years ago just for that reason, cause I had never seen it before.

Got it, well here's info on Gonio:
Most species of Goniopora, especially the most common species Goniopora stokesi, have long reaching polyps that are capable of stinging their neighbors. While Goniopora can reach corals far away, the stings are not too powerful.

I would keep an eye on them if they do touch, if anything I would think the gonio would sting the Acro, not sure how badly it would damage it.

thats pretty cool! ive never seen one like that...
I would think that they should not bother each other. the acro may eventually grow into the goni later down the road but I doubt any fighting right now

worth a shot, as long as you don't epoxy or glue either, you'll be able to move them if any problems arise.

Do you possibly have a pic of the Gonio, I'm interested to see the branching variation. I recently picked up another Gonio (had to get rid of my 1st as my clown was hosting/killing it). They're one of the prettiest corals IMO, such a drastic dynamic from the little white golf ball, to huge tentacles, love em'.

acros like very high flow where as gonis like lower calmer flow. May just have to place them where its ideal for them to be.
