do i have enough light to keep clams

    I have been reefing for about a year or so. doing well but have been wanting to get a clam. I have 4 65 w compact flourescent lights. Will that be enough and what type of clam would be best. thanks for yoru help.

    Unfortunately those lights wont cut it IMO...you need T5HO's minimum. Hopefully others will chime in to verify.

    Everyone Ive talked to about clams suggest T5 or MH. Ive seen the small clams with T5 lighting but not any big ones. I wouldn't try it

    I know people who keep clams under PC lighting, but it's not ideal. What size tank do you have?

    You could keep a T. Derasa with that lighting, but as for a maxima or crocea you will more lighting.

    IM thinking you have a 75 or 55 correct? 4 65 watters would be for a 4 foot tank
