the tang is waaaaaaaay to big for that tank.. and yes, you are way over stocked as well.. Im surprised you dont have fish deaths or extreme nitrates..

WAY to many fish...and yellow tang needs at least triple your tank.

That is way way way over stocked.

    Tang has to go ASAP.
    Mandarin should go ASAP

3x chromi, 2 clowns, 2 firefish... IMO, keep ONE firefish or the sleeper goby and either the 2 clowns or the 3 chromi's. Get rid of the rest.

though i'm not sure if that's enough space for the sleeper... might not be.

I second tha bama ....quite a bit over stocke definately consider cutting back. Do you have corals? Cleanup crew? A good skimmer and some type of phosphate remover will help, but the cure is to lighten your bio load quite a bit. Mandarins are awesome ...love them. ...be sure to keep your pod count high for them.

Your nitrates are likely highly tied to the fact that you are way overstocked.

Everyone's comments above are valid; especially about the tang and the mandarin. I'm setting up a 100G right now and most Tangs are borderline.

The rule of thumb is 5 gallons of water for every 1" of fish. So, you have room for about 6 inches of fish.

Some types of fish can't be kept in small tanks at all for a variety of reasons (they will quickly outgrow it, they need more room to swim, etc).

Don't be fooled when you see overstocked tanks in fish stores. Usually, they are all connected and the total system volume of water is huge. I've seen stand alone display tanks that look overstocked as well, and when I check out the sump, they have every filtration device known to man in use, and maybe some UFO technology as well! ;-)

I agree with TorontoGuy and the 1" per 5 gallon guide but would like to add that the 1" refers to the adult size of the fish.
