I have a 45 gallon tank, 36x24. Its currently still cycling and in a few weeks I plan on getting a couple clownfish and maybe a couple other small fish. I do plan on bringing in corals in a couple months. I currently have LR. Do I even need a wave maker? If so what GPH? Is there really much difference between the ones at my local LFS for $40-$100+ and the ones on ebay for less then half the price?

    TIA

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
No you do not need a wave maker. Yes there is a huge difference in performance IMO, you get what you pay for, the cheap ones are just that cheap.

Two decent sized power heads should be more than a enough, you really do not need an surge action.

If you have a sump then you can use a SeaSwirl Oscillator they have a 1/2" and 3/4" return and bigger model's as well, all you have to do is hookup your return to it and your done. They optional mounting bracket if needed.
