Do I need an Actinic bulb? What bulb configuration would you suggest?

I have a Coralife 36'' PC Fixture running a 96w 10k and a 96w dual 420nm and 460nm (dark purple/bright blue). I have had the bulbs for about two years now and need to change them. Is the 460nm beneficial to my corals? If not id like to just go with a full 420nm bulb. I have lots of zoos and want to get the best fluorescence out of them.

With 6700/10k/460/420 in all types of configurations, what would you suggest?

Also, could my lights (being as old as they are) be causing red hair algae? I have a light dusting of red on my sand and rocks. I heard that old bulbs could cause this. Maybe im crazy. iono. lol.

The lights are really old lol. You gotta be careful when you replace them; try and get the hood raised away from the tank or something. The corals might get light shocked if you put new bulbs in without anything to dull them and gradually bring them back up.

Wow, those bulbs are like a year and a half too old. PC bulbs generally need to be replaced every 6-8 months. I hated that about them, which is why I upgraded my PC fixture to T5 recently after my stock of PCs ran out.
The bulbs will definitely contribute to cyano and algae outbreak. A 6700/10000K bulb will help the zooxanthellae grow. The actinics are mainly for asthetics in zoas from what I understand, so it's a personal choice if you like the blue or purple look better. Personally, I like the blue look better, and that tends to be more beneficial in certain breeds of animals than the purples.
