I am just starting off with my first leather coral. I have had the tank about two years with not many problems. I used to have the tank in darkness during the night. The blue lights would come on at about 4pm then the white light at about 5pm. I would keep both on then at about 10pm the white light would go off then an hour later the blue light would go off. The tank would stay dark then until natural light and the blue the following 4pm.
I have now bough a leater coral which closes down if the lights are off. Should I keep the blue light on 24hrs or can it go off. Is it a good idea to turn it off while the white light is on.

    Thanks in advance

If you want to keep a 5-6 hr daylight and 7-8 hr actinic light schedule, that should be ok. Some ppl run them longer to promote better growth and coloration with the corals. I recommend having them on a timer, so it's automatic and consistent.

Would it damage the Coral to have the lights off as it closes down in darkness.
