    Maybe you could try at add more flow to the tank and direct it in that one corner or area.

    Yup, when I ran BB, I always needed to siphon it all during weekly water changes. Something a little thicker than airline tubing is perfect. I always wondered about those electric gravel vacuums they sell at petco, that seems even better, as you don't need to do a water change, but I never got to try one. As to the Kole tang, I haven't seen any tang eat detritus....
