I bought a cleaner shrimp last weekend and haven't seen it since :( I do have a rather large sized pistol shrimp - do they kill cleaners? I feel bad that I may have just served up this little guy without realizing it

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If the Cleaners wanders into the pistols area or burrow than yes a pistol can kill it.

My pistol never went out of it way to kill cleaner shrimp but I am sure they are capable of doing so if the cleaner ventured too close.

well, considering that the pistol has burrows all across the tank under the rock, it would have been more than likely that the shrimp would have gotten in :(

In nature, skunk cleaners are actually a favorite prey to the pistol shrimp.

I've successfully kept 2 cleaners & a fire shrimp with my pistol shrimp (though I have no idea what pistol shrimp I have, but that is for another post).

I have an 85g mixed reef.

Peppermints, however, "disappear" so I gave up them.

    Aww thats really dissapointing.

Cleaner shrimp in Australia cost between $165-$200 AU. If mine died like that I would be spewing!

wow! that is expensive. I thought 22 was expensive for a shrimp. I wonder why that is given that Australia has probably the most beautiful reef in the world. Is it that everything is very protected? Actually, that is a good thing.
