Do Pods eat corals?

I recently have had a head of my candycane coral start showing its skeleton for an unknown reason. I looked into my tank tonight to see what look like little shrimp that are clear with white bands on the coral and they appear to be eating it.

Anyone have any Ideas?

I would take a picture but they move away with the lights on.

 

i would say yes there probably are some that do, as i know half of the known copepods are parasitic ones.

literally there are over 13000 species of copepods

I have about 30 pods that are slowing eating my candy cane coral

 

Could it be possible that they are not eating the coral but eating the dieing and dead tissue?

 

I think I would start out assuming this is the case, doublecheck your water chemistry with different test kits or from an LFS, check your salinity with a calibrated refractometer etc.

 

pods eat calupra but may jason is right they might just be eating the dead tissue.

 

just buy a Mandarin : p teach those pods whos boss!
