Normally I do a 10% water change weekly in my 55 gallon reef tank that contains 4 Clowns and a fair amount of polyps, frogspawn, some other things and that coral that attacks other coral with its 5 inch long tentacles.

Things got a bit busy this week so I missed my usual water change. 3 days after that I was staring at my tank, and could not remember the last time the frogspawn and leather corals looks so full. Are they happier in the slighter dirty water?

Actually frogspawn are LPS not soft coral and euphy's usually are one of the first corals to let you know something isn't quite right with your parameters. But it's cool that something seemed to make it and the leathers happy!

I believe that letting the nitrates come up to 20-40 for a short period and then dropping them triggers growth spurts.I think its because they get some nutrients then get fresh oxygen and minerals when the water is changed. So I do this intentionally.Alot of my corals like it but a couple of my sps dont.
