Wondering what you all would think. First up is a branching frogspawn colony I have had for 6months or more now. Its tentacles dont seem real long and sometimes it randomly closes pretty tight during the day where my wall frogspawn does not close until lights go out. The flow might be a little to much for it and it is in an area where fish swim by and hit it by accident often. I would say it spends at least 8 hours a day open looking like this though.

This was it many months ago. I bought it ad 2 heads and it has turned into 3 and the large head is splitting again to make 4. The mouth has already split and moved to two ends of the head. Growth makes me think healthy and it does eat when fed mysis

The other coral is a zoa colony I bought. I bought one frag a couple months ago and the second frag a couple weeks ago and glued em together to make 1 large frag piece. The polyps are sometimes all open but it seems that 2 or 3 of the 50 polyps close during the day ( different polyps different days) Not sure if thhey are too shaded or not might be a light issue.

Thanks coralline. So you don't think it looks to retracted? I think it may just be me being paranoid and the 2 big heads looking fuller than 3 1/2 smaller heads

As you have already noticed LPS seem to regulate exposed surface area to lighting throughout the photo period.

My LPS are fully open about 4 hours after the lights come on, that is how long it takes to open completely, and then slowly start to close towards the end of the lighting period.

It looks healthy to me, growing and coloration are always good signs. I would not change a thing currently.

I think your frogspawn looks great. It's very similar to one I picked up about a month ago. They just have very "open" heads.

Can't offer any help for you there. My attempts at keeping zoa colonies has been pretty dismal.
