I have not found an Iodine test kit that is easy enough to read without a spectral analyzer LOL
I perform water changes and do not does anything that I have not found to be low via a test. So in the last 2 years I have only dosed Magnesium once

I use purple up which is a corraline fertilizer. It includes calcium, iodine, and a few other chemicals.

I dose when needed... never without testing. I dose seachem and use the seachem test kit also. I keep it at 0.06 wich is supposed to be the ocean iodine level.

Well that answers my question Boomer. I need a professional grade kit for my work (one of the worlds largest phytoplankton producers) for our macro system. So just the Seachem and Salifert are my choices, and Salifert is easier to read then Seachem? Are they even accurate enough for me? I'm not talking a little reef tank, I'm talking closer to 1.5 million gallons at our facility

When I saw the poll results, I was amazed!!! I was about to spend hours doing research to show that this is not a good idea. Luckily, Boomer succinctly said my thoughts in two sentences without me having to do the work. I do sometimes use diluted Lugol's solution as an antiseptic when fragging but dosing a reef tank is not a good idea.

I would stick with the Salifert but I think either are close enough. Do you have the newer Salifert that tests for iodide, iodate or molecular iodine ?

When you can test a sample and bring a sample to a real lab to see what you have or send it here.

We have a few labs we use all ready, but we'd like to do it in house. We've got a few labs on site, just no iodine test kit  I'll pick up a new Salifert tomorrow. Thanks for the lab link though, it's nice to have back-ups :D Know any good guaranteed analysis labs  I'd love to have back ups for the three I use all ready ;)

The one I posted is a leader in the field. It is not a hobby lab for reef tanks :D Seawater is their specialty.
