Do you have a controller?

I have a neptune aquacontroller and trying to be careful with any hazards that I may run into. Since I have three tunze powerheads(6045), I don't want to waste three outlets on the DC8 just on powerheads. I have one of these 3outlet adapter that I was going to plug into one of the outlets for my DC8 and use that for my three powerheads.

Would I run into any problems(electrical wise) ?


The tunze 6045 uses 7watts. The DC8 is composed of 8x120V Outlets (Max 6 Amps per outlet, total current must be less than 15 Amps)

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

 

I don't see why you would have a problem. I run 3 48inch reefbrite xho on one outlet on my rkl. Also people run there mh lights off the dc8 outlet all the time.

 

If your running your metal halides off a single outlet on the controller, wouldn't it trip the circuit because it can exceed the 6amp limit if your running 250W halides?

 

Use Ohms law. P/IxR ......if you're running 250w lights, and you know that your voltage is 120 in your home, then 250/120 = 2.08. So your power is only 2 amps out of 15. Generally you want to use only half of your total rating, so from 8 you have 6 amps left. Now if you can find the rest of your wattage use from your other equipment you'll know exactly where you stand with total amps.
