Don't quite know except maybe just big pumps. The smallest I ever had on it was a 850GPH and now its running on a 1200 GPH pump. I've had it for over a year and a half now and it has only jammed twice. Both times where when I had that real bad hair algae and that crap clogged everything.

I had the Red Sea Wavemaster pro...It was a piece of junk as the outlets stopped working. Even my electrician couldn't fix the crap! Also Red Sea was terrible with regards to its customer service(Walt Disney) would roll over in his grave about that one#$@@%^*(^)!
Enough about that- I now have a Wave2K(center unit)working on my 125gallon reef!!!! Nice water movement and no heat generated in my water or wires in the tank!!!!!!!

Can't say I've ever had a single problem with my Wavemaker Pro. Set it and forget it. I just hate Power heads and that's why I went with OMs

i want one on my fifteen gallon but i'm still undecided on the best route to take.....i just hate having powerheads in the tank...especially in the summer time. i've used hydor flo's before and they are just too bulky. here are my options....

    - scwd running off of a mag drive 3 or quiet one 1200 (best option?)
    - hook up a natural wave to my existing mj's (last option)
    - call up wave2k to see if they could design one into a 12" x 12" space
    - other...suggestions?

i have oolitic sand in the tank therefore unable to produce too much gph due to creating a sandstorm. i've found 300 gph is just about right pointing in any direction within the tank...i just have to make sure one of the outlets in directed right at my montipora.

Wow, this is an old thread but I guess I've bumped it now. Planning my tank now so I'd love to hear thoughts on powerhead approach like Wavemaker Pro or Tunze's versus closed loop systems like Oceans Motions.
