Thanks all. Should I still dip even if I QT?

I got a pulsating Xenia. Seems easy and cool looking. Very small. Based on what I've read I need to make sure they don't take over my tank.

I'm gonna have to take it back. Almost every YouTube video says the same thing. Grows like a weed and can't get rid of it.
Darn. Should have gotten a zoa.

Always quarantine corals. All corals. Dips are not a substitute for a QT process. There are no dips that kill everything.
Aside from the usual unwanted critters there are all kinds of things like bubble , cotton candy algae, vermatid snails , reef spiders, zoanthid eating nudibraches ect ect.
Do a lot of observing at night. I just spend about $100 on flatworm exit to treat Red Planaria. Had to do a couple extra treatments that was my fault but it can get expensive. The can lay eggs on anything.

BTW Coral RX does not kill red bugs.

I use Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure as one of my treatments along with Interceptor, fresh water dips and others depending on the coral and the pests.

My tank and knowledge is geared more toward stony corals. I've never had reef spiders or zoa eating nudibranches but that's what I would be on the look out for with softies. Red planaria and vermatid snails seem to sneak in on about any coral as do some things I mentioned above. I would do a dip in Bayer advanced insect killer for everything. You can get it at home depot and use 10ml per cup. Dip for 5-10 minutes.

It's a mild dip that kill most critters and easy on sensitive corals.

Oh yea be on the look out for tiny little snails called sundials.

No meds just be on the look out for all kinds of things. Lots of things come out at night so use a flashlight well after lights go out.

If you get into SPS corals the big one is AEFW. Acropora eating flatworms. Quarantine for weeks with a lot of observation.

Some things I currently have that I wish I didn't and are hard to get rid of:
    Bubble algae
    Cotton candy algae
    Digitate hydroids
    Colonial hydroids
    Vermatid snails
Just killed off my Red planaria I think (that one is easy to get rid of..sorta). But still cost me $$$ to get rid of it.
    I have had red bugs.
I have some other things I'm not too sure about like asternia starfish. Some say they eat zoas so watch out. Given a choice I would just remove them if you see them in QT.
Basically remove anything your not sure about.

Wow thats a lot of stuff that can come on coral. Its amazing too because I see you guys tanks full of corals. The tanks are amazing! But the time to QT and cost to QT and treat is so high. This is great info and I never would have know. LFS how Coral RX for the dip.
Bayer is ok to use? Funny that can use something for soil and get at HD

Coral Rx is pretty good. I have some. It doesn't kill red bugs but I'm not sure about some of the zoa eating creatures. I emailed Coral RX and asked about vermatid snails and they said it would kill them but it didn't for me. It does work pretty good just keep in mind if you go into SPS corals none of these dips kill AEFW eggs. Or pesty things like bubble algae.
Many of the things I listed are not going to kill your corals but are an irritant/just plane ugly.
Some things can be treated with a whole tank treatment like red bugs and some things must be done with multiple dips like AEFW. THen some things simply have to be manually removed like sun dial snails. So that's why it's best to watch things without being in any big hurry to put in main tank.
There are a lot of threads on the Bayer dip so just google it and you'll see a lot of info on that.
