I didn't QT at first, and now I regret it. I would recommend to all to QT from the start if you don't want to have unpleasant surprises with parasites, etc.

Can you elaborate on why it is pointless to quarantine because you have a 14 gallon?

there is three fish in my 14 gallon worth about $30 bucks in total :p

when you have a 180 gallon tank and hundreds maybe, if you got some nice fish, thousands of dollars in fish, you wouldn't want to loose all that because one fish comes in with ich.

I never qt'd anything when I first started either but after frag swaps and ordering stuff online and lfs purchases only time will tell if you and when you will regret it yeah it is more work but that little bit of work will save you alot of headache in the long run. red bugs aptisia Monti eating nudis to name a few of the popular ones. once you get those you will wish you qt'd as for me I have more expensive corals alot of LE whatever that is supposed to be in my tanks and I would hate to loss it to a pain in the but problem like red bugs when you have to nuke the tank to rid them and that doesn't always work. As one member in my club found out.i stated before on other post where I have an aptisia problem and it was because I did not qt my clams. and both came full of aptisia now UI have a forest as I tried and tried to ap x lime paste pep shrimp and now nudis! I am just waiting for the results to come in from the Nudis. to see if it will rid the problem. I personally say qt everything all but CUC i never qt them.

If I buy a fish I let the LFS do the QT. I go there look for the fish I want then watch it for two weeks. If it is still healthy after that I buy it.

I live in Vegas and I love to gamble... I only dip new corals before placing then in my DT. And that's only if I feel like it. Having a QT for a nano is a little overboard, not that my setup isn't...

No I don't and I don't recommend it either. Too much stress on the critters. I have put several unsightly fish in my dt with no ill effects.

Everyone's opions are welcome and there are good points all around. If anyone talks to Tangster or Otty, can you get them to shate their experiences here?

Not really a no answer--Yes I know what one is, and no I don't. I think it is cruel and causes undo stress to the animal
