dry because that's how the skimmer wants to do it and I didn't want to spend too much time messing with it. The collection cup gets cleaned evry two weeks and has a bunch of poo in it. So it must be working.

I try a in between but I am more on the wet side. If i get more nasty stuff in the skimmer quicker I feel as though it is getting more stuff out and no problems so far.

Also keep in mind that the article is a pet store article that is 15 years old ;) Heck, I'm suprised they didn't just say to throw away the skimmer and run a DSB with a TAS ;)

I run mine both ways. My skimmer is very old and is very hard to get it adjusted after each emptying, so I don't particularly worry whether its wet or dry, as long as sludge is making it to the cup I consider it a success.

For the record I voted for dry because that is the way it is running now.

Dry Skim....mostly because I don't like the messing with emptying the container alot ( 24oz over flow ) ....and I have the piece of mind it s not going to get out of control ....clean and empty containers every 2 weeks

I used to skim dry but now i skim wet. I get a green tea colored skimmate now. My tank is noticably clear. I always thought you had to get super dark skimmate too.

I wish there was a detailed article about this, something written in the last few years.
